PortoVerde
Portoverde is a small, elegant marina situated a few kilometres from Misano Adriatico, renowned as one of the best-equipped and most modern marinas on the Romagna Riviera. Built in the 1960s, it has a distinctive circular shape and comprises two basins, one of which is of recent construction, capable of accommodating up to 350 boats up to 30 metres in length.
Around the harbour there are white houses with blue windows, arcades, boutiques, quaint shops, lounge bars and restaurants, all of which create an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. Portoverde is also a centre for sport and wellness, with facilities for water sports such as sailing and swimming, as well as tennis courts, five-a-side football pitches, a riding school, go-karting, and skating and karting tracks.

Misano Circuit
The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is an internationally renowned motorcycling circuit located in Misano Adriatico, dedicated to the memory of the Italian rider Marco Simoncelli, who tragically passed away in 2011. Opened in 1972, the circuit has undergone numerous modifications over the years, including the extension of the track and a reversal of the running direction, and today it is approximately 4.18 km long with a capacity of around 52,000 spectators.
The circuit has hosted major motorcycling events such as the San Marino and Rimini Riviera MotoGP Grand Prix since 2007, as well as the World Superbike Championship since 1991, and in 2024 it also added the Formula E E-Prix. It is also the FMI’s federal technical centre for rider training, with driving schools specialising in motorbikes, cars and commercial vehicles.
The facility features a 70,000-square-metre paddock, modern grandstands, a state-of-the-art medical centre and several dedicated tracks, including a karting track and a flat track. The circuit is equipped to provide thrills not only during races, but also for those who wish to test their driving skills in a safe environment.
Every year, the circuit hosts numerous major sporting events such as the MotoGP, the World Superbike Championship, the Fanatec GT World Challenge and other events dedicated to the world of two- and four-wheeled vehicles, as well as events such as the EICMA Riding Fest.

The History of Misano
Misano Adriatico has ancient origins, with human settlement dating back to the Neolithic period. During excavations carried out for the construction of the Santa Monica Circuit, prehistoric artefacts were discovered, which are now housed in the Riccione City Museum. Later, during the Roman occupation, the area was linked by a road (the Via Flaminia) connecting Rimini to the conquered territories. The name Misano appears to derive from the ‘Gens Mesia’, a Roman family who settled in the Rimini countryside in the 3rd century BC and who are said to have been granted land as a reward for military service (fundus Messius).
In the Middle Ages, the first significant record is the construction, in 997, of the parish church of San Biagio or Sant’Erasmo, one of the oldest sacred sites in the area, around which the settlement of Misano Monte developed. From 1295 to 1528, the village was under the rule of the Malatesta family, who built a castle of which only the entrance arch and part of the tower remain today; the latter is the symbol of the town’s coat of arms.
Following the fall of the Malatesta family, Misano became part of the Papal States until the unification of Italy. In 1511, it was granted municipal autonomy, although it lost and regained its administrative independence several times until 1827, when it finally became a fully autonomous municipality.
In 1938, the name was changed from “Villa Vittoria” to “Misano Adriatico” by decree of Benito Mussolini. After the Second World War, Misano’s economy grew with the emergence of tourism, which led, in 1949, to the transfer of the town hall from the ancient village of Misano Monte to the coastal area.
A unique feature is that several neighbourhoods are named after Latin American countries, a tradition linked to the return of emigrants from Misano who had been living in Latin America in the 19th century, and who went on to form small communities such as Misano Brasile and Villaggio Argentina.
